SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY, YEAR C
GOD’S WORD FOR US TODAY
Reading 1: Prov 8: 22-31 (God’s Wisdom, a master craftsman, helps to design the world)
God’s wisdom is described in personal terms as being involved in creation. This same Wisdom is described in the Book of Genesis as the Spirit that God breathed over the world at its creation, and, in John’s Gospel, as God’s Word which became flesh and came to dwell among us.
Resp. Ps. (8): What is man that you should keep him in mind, mortal man that you should care for him.
Reading 2: Rom 5: 1-5 (To God, through Jesus, in the Power of the Spirit)
St Paul describes how we are at peace with God through our relationship with Jesus, and how the Holy Spirit strengthens and deepens our love for God in all the circumstances of our lives, even in the midst of suffering.
Gospel Acc: Alleluia . . . . . Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, the God who is, who was, and is to come. Alleluia . . . .
Gospel : Jn 16: 12-15 (The Holy Spirit is our ongoing guide and teacher)
Jesus reassures the disciples that they will not be facing the future alone. They will always have the Spirit as teacher and guide, as Jesus’ continuing presence in the world. Like Jesus, the Spirit teaches the truth that comes from the Father. Reflect: This truth is about how to live our lives as images and likenesses of God. What might this be for you? What truth do you hear?

CIRCLE OF FRIENDS and CONFIRMATION
The final meeting for the children preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation and their parents will be this coming Tuesday, June 14th, at 6:30 pm in the Church.
The sacrament will be celebrated next Sunday, June 19th, at the parish Mass at 10:00 am.
We look forward to welcoming the children into full membership of the Church and of our parish community. Please continue to pray for the children and their families.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
There will be no Children’s Liturgy of the Word NEXT SUNDAY, due to the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation at Mass.
THE SICK AND DECEASED
We continue to pray for the sick, that God will grant them strength and peace; and for those who have died, that God will bring them to the fullness of eternal life. We remember in particular Theresa Kerr whose anniversary occurs this week.
PRAYER for PEACE: RUSSIA and UKRAINE
O Prince of Peace, once more we hear the guns of war and see the faces of frightened children. We pray for the people of Ukraine, that they may be granted peace; for the people of Russia, that they may demand peace; and for our own country, that we may be a positive part of peace-making in this world. O Prince of Peace, lead us from this dark time to a deeper understanding of the global human family, so that all may break bread together in the secure embrace of peace. Amen.
COMMUNITY HUB: UKRAINIAN REFUGEES
The Justice and Peace Group will deliver to the hub all items left in the baskets at the back of the church. In the interests of health and safety, all items must be new. The following will be gratefully received:
- Toiletries: toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, face cloths, hairbrushes and combs, toilet bags
- Towels, duvet covers, sheets, pillowcases;
- Nightwear and underwear: Pyjamas, pants;
- Clothes: Joggies, T-shirts, fleece tops;
- Anything practical which may help the host families to make the refugees feel welcome in Glasgow.
There have been TWO SPECIAL APPEALS: for clothing for young men and for hairdressing assistance. In anyone knows a retired or practising hairdresser, either part time or full time, who may be able to help, please ask him/her to contact Fr McMahon at St Michael’s, Parkhead. (Email: stmichael.parkhead@rcag.org.uk. Tel: 0141-554-0530). Thank you.

OTHER
SCIAF PETITION TO THE GOVERNMENT
SCIAF is urging us to sign their petition to the Government in support of fair and equal access to COVID-19 vaccines around the world. Our own country may seem to be over the worst of it, but this isn’t the situation in all countries.
According to the United Nations, more than 10 billion vaccines have been given out worldwide, but only one percent of these have been administered in low-income countries. Again, according to the UN, 2.8 billion people around the world are still waiting for their first dose of the vaccine.
SCIAF is calling on the Prime Minister to take action at the upcoming G7 meeting, to persuade the G7 leaders to do the following:
- Support low-income countries to ensure that vaccines can be rapidly manufactured in all regions of the world.
- Press companies who have benefited from public funding for their vaccines to share their vaccine technology, know-how and intellectual property.
- Work with local health, community and faith leaders in remote areas so that vaccines can be rolled out to people living in the hardest-to-reach parts of the world.
Please take a few minutes to go online and sign the petition. By putting campaign.sciaf.org.uk into your search engine, you will reach the petition.
If you are not comfortable using the internet, perhaps you can ask someone to help you. This is an important petition.
