SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (YEAR A) (vol.1, p.644)

GOD’S WORD FOR US TODAY

Reading 1: Isaiah 49:3, 5-6
I will make you the light of the nations so that my salvation may

reach the ends of the earth

Psalm: Psalm 39 Here I am, Lord! I come to do your will.

Reading 2: 1 Corinthians 1:1-3 May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ send you grace and peace

Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia! …  Blessings on the King who comes, in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest heavens!  …   Alleluia!

Gospel: John 1:29-34 ‘Look: there is the Lamb of God’.

Reflect:  The Jews chose a spotless lamb from their flocks to offer to God at Passover.  Jesus is God’s preferred Victim, taking away all the sins of the world.  What could we offer up to join our sufferings to those of Jesus?

HAVING OUR EYES OPENED

Ordinary Time, which, it could be argued, is anything but ordinary, continues to unfold.  In doing so it opens our eyes as well as our other senses to the growing mystery, which is Christ, our Saviour, and His all-pervading, unconditional love for us.
