SEASON OF CREATION: Welcome to the First Sunday of the Season of Creation which lasts from September 1st – October 4th, the feast of St Francis of Assisi. This year the Theme is,” Living Water”. The following text is taken from the Prophet Ezekiel.

“Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live. Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

This piece of Scripture portrays God’s lifegiving water flowing from the depth of the temple and bringing life to everything it touches. Please can you spend a few minutes reflecting on this text this week. Let’s thank God for the gift of water. Let’s make a point of noticing every time we use water. We hope to have a water feature in the church, reminding us of flowing water. Fr. Joe will bless us with the Water of Baptism at the beginning of mass and after Communion we will recite the Prayer of the Season of Creation.

JUSTICE & PEACE GROUP: During the Season of Creation, as we’ve done in the past, we’ll collect soup making ingredients which we’ll give to the Wayside Club. For the next two weeks we will collect packs of dried goods eg lentils, pasta etc. and tins of vegetables. On the final two weeks we will collect fresh vegetables and fruit.
